Mogadishu, SONNA — FM Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, alongside U.N. Envoy James Swan, welcomed UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, H.E. Rosemary A. DiCarlo, during her visit to Somalia. FM Fiqi briefed H.E. DiCarlo on Somalia’s recent progress, particularly in the security sector.
Discussions included the resumption of the National Consultative Council (NCC) meetings on 26 October and Somalia’s transition to the African Union Transition Mission (AUSSOM). The FM expressed optimism about the UN Security Council’s consideration of Somalia’s proposals.
H.E. DiCarlo also offered support for Somalia’s team at the UN Security Council, which FM Fiqi welcomed, noting the team would operate both from New York and within the Ministry.
