Mogadishu, SONNA – The Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur, has praised the National Security Forces for their recent successes in combating the Khawaarij in the Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions. Speaking at a press briefing, the Minister highlighted the significant losses inflicted on the Khawaarij over the past 20 days, crediting the efforts of the Somali Armed Forces and local militias for their relentless operations.

“The Khawaarij have suffered a significant loss in the past 20 days in the regions of the country, thanks to the actions of the Armed Forces and the local forces,” said Minister Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur. He emphasized that the National Security Forces, alongside local forces, have delivered a decisive blow to the Khawaarij, pushing them closer to defeat.

The Minister noted that the ongoing operations have taught an “unforgettable lesson” to the Khawaarij, who are now in the final stages of being eradicated. He specifically commended the efforts of forces in the Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions, where recent offensives have disrupted Khawaarij activities and weakened their capabilities.

Minister Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur called for an acceleration of operations against terrorism, urging security forces to maintain momentum and continue their efforts to restore peace and stability across the country. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the National Security Forces and local militias in their fight against the Khawaarij.

In his concluding remarks, the Defense Minister confirmed that several Khawaarij leaders, who have long caused instability and suffering for the Somali people, have been neutralized in recent operations. He described this as a significant step forward in the fight against terrorism and a prove to the effectiveness of the coordinated efforts between the National Security Forces and local forces.

The Minister’s statements come amid a renewed push by the Somali government and its international partners to eliminate the Khawaarij and restore security in the country. The recent gains in Hiran and Middle Shabelle are seen as a critical milestone in this ongoing campaign.

As Somalia continues its efforts to combat the Khawaarij and build a stable future, the bravery and dedication of the National Security Forces remain central to achieving lasting peace. The government has vowed to sustain its support for the forces and ensure that the gains made in recent operations are consolidated and expanded.
