Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hamza Adan Haadoow, received the UN Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States, Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari to discusse enhancing collaboration in development programs and pushing forward the National Transformation Plan (NTP).
The meeting focused on advancing Somali-led development initiatives, regional integration, institutional capacity building, urban planning for Mogadishu, strategies for Somalia’s accession to the World Trade Organization, and promoting the blue economy, particularly in the fisheries sector. Other key areas of discussion included mapping the diaspora’s role in development and supporting the municipal elections set for 2025.
Both sides underscored the importance of transitioning from humanitarian assistance to sustainable development, aiming for long-term prosperity.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry, including the Director General of East African Community Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Isack Ibrahim (Fatiir), the Director of the Protocol Department, Mr. Hussein Sheikh Abdusalam, the Director of International Organizations, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Ali, the Director of the Communications Department, Mr. Ali Abdi Ali Hoshow, and the Director of Diaspora Affairs Department, Mr. Ibrahim Gure Mohamed.
