Mogadishu, (SONNA) – In a joint press conference at the Ministry of Information brought together Ministers of Internal Security, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismael (Fartaag) and Endowment, Mukhtar Ali Robow, joined by the Attorney General of the Federal Government of Somalia and the Deputy Minister of Information, they issued a stern warning to individuals providing financial support to terrorist groups.
Minister Fartaag shared the theme of the statement during the press conference: “Do not let your wealth destroy your life,” while revealing that accounts used by the militants to receive funding have been shut down, and security forces are prepared to act against anyone attempting to collaborate with these groups.
The Minister of Security emphasized that the government is committed to supporting the Puntland community in their fight against the Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The Minister of Religion and Endowments echoed this sentiment, asserting that it is unacceptable for anyone to finance activities that harm the Somali people. “In areas under government control such as Bakara market, they will find no justification to say, ‘We are being extorted,’” stated Minister Mukhtaar.
Abdirixmaan Yusuf Al-Adala, the Deputy Minister of Information, also spoke at the joint press conference, stating that the government possesses information about individuals directly or indirectly funding groups like Al-Shabaab and ISIS. He offered congratulations to the national heroes achieving victories on the battlefield and praised the Somali public for their support of the national forces.
The Ministers reiterated that the primary objective of the government is to combat the Al-Shabaab terrorists, noting that throughout the conflict, these groups have faced significant defeats on the battlefield.
They highlighted that the Al-Shabaab militants have been beaten in financial warfare, media battles, ideological confrontations, and on the frontlines.
Finally, the Ministers warned the public against engaging with the Al-Shabaab terrorists, urging anyone contacted by these groups to report to government security agencies. Minister Fartaag stated, “If you are found in contact with these fallen (Al-Shabaab) individuals, and you are seen facilitating funds, the government will take serious action against you.”
Minister Alcadaala added, “We are aware that some individuals still have dealings with the Khawarij, and we want to give them this final warning.”
A widespread campaign is underway across the country to liberate areas where the Al-Shabaab militants are hiding.
