Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees and IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons), Mr. Ahmed Hussen Cilmi, alongside his Deputy, Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Salad, inaugurated a high-level conference in Mogadishu today. The conference focused on granting national recognition to refugees and asylum seekers residing within the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The proposed recognition aims to provide refugees and displaced persons with fundamental rights, facilitating their integration into society and enabling them to participate in economic activities. This initiative is seen as a critical step toward rebuilding the lives of those who have been displaced due to conflict and instability.
The event was attended by officials from various government ministries and agencies, as well as senior security personnel. Participants contributed valuable insights on how to implement the proposed measures effectively.
This conference marks a significant effort by the Somali government to address the challenges faced by refugees and displaced persons, ensuring they are granted the rights and opportunities needed to rebuild their lives and contribute to the nation’s recovery.
