Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Livestock, Forestry, and Range of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hassan Hussein Mohamed, held a meeting with Dr. Abebe Haile-Gabriel, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Africa, alongside FAO’s Somalia Representative, Etienne Peterschmitt.
The discussions focused on the critical role of livestock in Somalia’s economy and food production, the development of policies and regulations for forestry and rangelands, and strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change.
Minister Hassan Hussein reaffirmed the Somali government’s commitment to advancing the livelihoods of pastoralist communities and revitalizing degraded rangelands through reforestation and sustainable land management initiatives.
