Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somalia, as nation of hundred percent Muslim population, is today on Monday celebrating Mawlid, Al-NNABI, the birthday of the prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him on the 12th of Rabi’ul Awal, the 3rd month of Muslim calendar throughout the country.
There are major gatherings and events to mark the Mawlid to remember the virtues of our prophet Muhammed(PBU) including love, mercy, compassion, benevolence, generosity and justice that he demonstrated for humanity.
Today is public holiday, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Government officials and scholars share messages of the importance of this day to people as well as the Muslim world.
” I am congratulating Somali people and all Muslims in the world on the occasion of 12th of Rabi’ul Awal, the birthday of our prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him. May Allah let us reach next year in peace, prosperity and development”, Somali Prime Minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble said in his message to this great day.
