The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has arrived in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to attend the summit of the Arab League and the African Union, according to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
The summit, which is scheduled to take place on November 10 and 11, will bring together leaders from 54 African countries and 22 Arab countries to discuss issues of common interest, such as trade, security, development, and cooperation.
The President was previously in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, where he met with the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and other senior officials. He also underwent a successful surgery on his shoulder at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, SONNA reported.
The President expressed his gratitude to the UAE for its hospitality and medical care, and praised the bilateral relations between the two countries. He also reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to the Arab League and the African Union, and its support for the peace and stability of the region.
The President is expected to return to Somalia after the conclusion of the summit. He will be accompanied by a delegation of ministers and officials from his government.
