Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre on Sunday welcomed the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Internal Displacement, Robert Piper, at his office. The two leaders discussed the dire living conditions of internally displaced people and ways to find lasting solutions to their struggles.
The Prime Minister highlighted his government’s commitment to resettling refugees and commended the UN’s efforts to provide aid.
The Special Adviser acknowledged the government’s work and noted that the UN is assisting displaced people in 16 countries, including Somalia, who have been affected by droughts, conflicts, terrorism, and climate change.
