The second deputy speaker of the Somali Federal Parliament, Hon. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, is participating in the 147th Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference, which is taking place in Angola from October 24 to 27, 2023.
The conference, which is part of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), brings together parliamentarians from different countries to discuss issues such as unity, good governance, finance, development, climate change, democracy and other topics.
Abshirow is accompanied by members of the two chambers of the Somali Federal Parliament, the Secretary-General of the Upper House and the Deputy Secretary-General of the House of the People.
He is expected to deliver a speech before the participants of the plenary session of the conference and share his views on the current situation and challenges facing Somalia and the region.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union is a global organization of national parliaments that promotes dialogue, cooperation and democracy among its members. It was founded in 1889 and has 179 member parliaments and 13 associate members.
