DJIBOUTI – SONNA – The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, MP Sahra Yusuf Ige, along with a delegation, participated in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Ministerial Conference in Djibouti. The conference successfully approved the Food Security and Nutrition Strategy for the period 2025-2034.
Somalia played an important role throughout the conference, which extended into its second day, contributing significantly to the formulation and approval of key plans within the IGAD Food Security and Nutrition Action Plan 2025-2034. These strategic plans aim to enhance food security and nutrition across the IGAD member states.
The discussions and outcomes of this meeting are expected to bolster cooperation among IGAD member states, focusing on collective efforts to address food security and nutrition challenges in the region. This collaborative approach is anticipated to yield sustainable solutions and promote resilience against food insecurity.
The conference marks a significant step forward in regional collaboration, setting a comprehensive framework to address critical issues in food security and nutrition over the next decade.
