Mogadishu, SONNA —Officers from the Somali Air Force and the National Army’s special unit, DANAB, have commenced a six-week on-the-job training program focused on aviation meteorology.
The training, facilitated by the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), aims to enhance participants’ understanding of weather phenomena and their ability to interpret meteorological data, improving the safety and efficiency of Somalia’s aviation operations.
In addition to meteorology, the program includes key modules on Aviation Security (AVSEC), Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), and Loadmaster/Cargo Handling, equipping the officers with critical skills needed for specialized aviation roles. This training is expected to significantly boost the operational capabilities of Somalia’s aviation sector.
