Hudur (SONNA): The Somali National army officers based in Bakool region (South-west State) announced that a senior commander of Al-shabaab militant group has surrendered himself to the National army,after 11 years of serving the terrorist group. (SONNA) reported
In an official statement, Ibrahim Issack Ibrahim one of the Bokool regional Authorities said that “The defector called Awlad Abdulrahman Mohamad, who served in Al-Shabaab militant group for almost 11 years.
This cames after the defector had initially communicated with National Army officers in the Bakool region,then surrendered himself to the National Army willingly.
In addition, Mr Ibrahim has expressed his thanks and appreciation to the National army for their intensive efforts to eradicate the remnants of Al-Shabaab militias.
On his part, the defected Al-shabaab member Olad Abdirahman indicated that he worked as a driver for the terrorist group, adding that he is “no longer” follolwing their extreme ideology because “he can’t accept any more” the terrible results of their fatal actions that totally contradicts the core value of Islam.
The National Army has been escalating the level of it’s military operations against Al-shabaab militants.In addition to that,the National Army conducts public awareness campaigns, resulting in restoring security, law and order in many liberated-territories from Al-shabaab.
Recently,the number of Al-shabaab defects has been increasing since the beginning of these operations and campaigns in the country.
