Dhusamareb (SONNA): The Accountant General of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Anas, officially inaugurated the second phase of the Public Financial Management (PFM) conference today in Dhusamareb. This phase features a specialized training session on the “IPSAS Cash Basis,” scheduled to run over two days from November 19 to 20, 2024.
The training aims to standardize procedures for the preparation of annual accounts in line with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). By adopting these international standards, the initiative seeks to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and public confidence in Somalia’s economic administration.
Participants of the conference will have the opportunity to update and refine their knowledge, fostering improved cooperation and coordination across various financial levels of the government. This effort is a critical step towards building a more transparent and accountable financial management system in Somalia.
Mr. Anas emphasized the importance of this training in his opening remarks, stating, “Adhering to IPSAS standards will not only improve our financial reporting but also reinforce the trust of our citizens and international partners in our economic systems.”
The conference reflects the ongoing commitment of the Somali government to strengthen its financial management capabilities and promote sustainable development through enhanced public sector governance.
