Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdisalan Abdi Ali (Dhaay), inaugurated the Fifth Conference of Somali Trade Unions (FESTU) in Mogadishu.
The conference, attended by 320 delegates from the country’s federal member states, Banadir region, and representatives of 12 Somali labor unions, aims to address labor rights, strengthen democratic practices, promote workers’ unity, combat injustice, enhance democracy, job creation, and national development based on equality and social justice.
Mr. Abdisalan Abdi Ali expressed his satisfaction with the recent signing of the revised Labor Law by the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, which marks a significant achievement for Somali workers after 52 years.
He also emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing the Decent Work Country Programme, which is a priority for Somalia to ensure that economic growth aligns with job opportunities available in the country.
