Mogadishu, SONNA – The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement on the Arab-Israeli peace process, following the remarks made by the U.S. National Security Spokesperson. The statement asserts that Saudi Arabia’s position on the Palestinian issue has always been consistent and supportive of the Palestinian people’s rights.
The statement also says that Saudi Arabia has conveyed its clear position to the U.S. administration that it will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel unless a sovereign Palestinian state is established on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and unless Israel ends its aggression and occupation of the Gaza Strip.
The statement further urges the permanent members of the UN Security Council that have not yet recognized the Palestinian state, to do so as soon as possible, in order to enable the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights and to ensure a lasting and fair peace for all parties.
