The recently concluded Executive Council Ministerial meeting of the African Union decided as follows in regard to regional rotation of the 8 elective posts of the Senior Leadership of the AU Commission.
1. The ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง region shall submit candidates for the position of the ๐๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง.
2. The ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ง region shall submit candidates for the position of the ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง.
Both regions can submit Male and female candidates. The gender of the elected Chairperson will determine the gender of the Deputy Chairperson to be elected.
3. The ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง, ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฅ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ง regions will submit candidates for the remaining posts of ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฌ taking into account gender balance. Re-election is open for eligible candidates and posts.
