Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, concluded the second Conference of Somali Scholars in Mogadishu. The conference focused on the unity of scholars, with the Prime Minister urging them to strengthen their solidarity and overcome divisions.
Mr. Barre emphasized the crucial role of Somali scholars in the nation’s reconstruction and development. He called on them to lead the fight against the Khawarij groups, particularly Al-Shabaab, which he identified as a significant threat to the nation’s reality, economy, society, and existence. “Terrorists propagate ignorance, bad religion, and bad behavior, leading to a nation without culture and leadership,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also encouraged scholars to combat tribalism and other threats to the Somali Muslim nation. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Religion and Endowments for organizing the conference for the second consecutive year and extended his condolences to the families of prominent scholars, including Sheikh Osman Hiddig and Hamas leader Sheikh Ismail Haniya.
