Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud officially opened the 5th Session of the Federal Parliament of Somalia. In an address to a joint session of the Parliament, the President lauded the historic deliberations and review to finalize the Constitution as a significant step in the direction towards enhancing democratization, the rule of law, and ensuring that our citizens exercise their constitutional rights, including the right to vote and be elected directly.
The President recalled the significant achievements registered over the past year, including the completion of the debt relief process, formal accession of the EAC blog, and lifting of the decades-long armed embargo.
The President has also commended Parliament’s resolution to safeguard the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of our people in the face of unlawful Ethiopian transgression.
