President Farmajo speaks at Turkey-Africa co-operation conference

Istanbul, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who addressed the Third Turkey-Africa Cooperation Conference highlighted the opportunities for cooperation and investment for Africa in general and for Somalia in particular.

The President spoke in depth on the importance of developing and strengthening cooperation between Turkey and African countries, noting that the Summit will have a strategic benefit for cooperation and bilateral relations.

“Somalia is confident that the five strategic elements of co-operation outlined in this Summit, will lead to an environment of peace, justice, stability and prosperity, as well as opportunities for equality for all of us.”

Speaking on the fruitful relations between Somalia and Turkey, bilateral cooperation and investment projects, the volume of trade and social integration between the two Governments, the President noted that the cooperation between Somalia and Turkey is based on cooperation.  self-respect, understanding and mutual benefit.

“The government of Somalia and Turkey have a long-standing relationship. We are witnessing the value of our genuine cooperation with Turkey, which is a model for our African brothers and sisters.”

The President spoke of the significant progress made by the Government and the people of Somalia in the areas of security, investment, infrastructure, reconstruction of government institutions and social services, and called on the participating leaders and international investors to benefit, and take advantage of the investment opportunities available in our country.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo thanked his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Government and the people of Turkey in general for their continued support and assistance to the people and government of Somalia, underlining that Somalia welcomes positive points from this Conference.
