Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre indicated the importance of developing the capabilities of the Somali Coast Guard, to enable them to take over the general security of the protection and defense of the Somali Sea.
The Prime Minister, who watched a drill presented by troops trained to protect Somalia’s coasts, praised the European Union for the training and high skills of the troops, who were prepared to take over the security of Somalia’s coasts.
Prime Minister Hamza talked to officers of Operation Atalanta on a ship standing on the coast of Somalia and thanked them for their important support in being ready to protect our country’s shores from criminals who carry out illegal activities.
“Since 2008, Operation Atalanta has been the basis for enhancing the overall safety and security of the Somali Sea, which has been essential in preventing piracy, ensuring the safety of vessels, combating illegal fishing and crimes at sea,” the Prime Minister added.
The Danish government is committed to building a Somali army capable of protecting the coasts of the country, to prevent anyone who commits violations.
