Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre, who opened a workshop on the growth and development of the country’s economy, noted the government’s efforts in the development of the inclusive and stable economy.
The workshop was attended by the Ministries of Production, international experts in the economy, including Professor Stefan Dercon, an economic expert and lecturer at Oxford University in the UK, presenting ways of achieving a developed economy, and reflecting the future goals of achieving economic self-sufficiency.
The Prime Minister pointed out how Somalia can take advantage of its strategic location, its creative people, and economic ties in the region, stressing the importance of working together to develop the economic growth and to take advantage of the opportunities that exist.
PM Hamza said the importance of modernizing the National Development Plan and transitioning to a new National Plan called NTP, which focuses on the creation of economic policies and strategies that support economic growth, job creation and strengthening economic stability.
