Mogadishu (SONNA)-Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Hayer (Mareye) appointed the singer, Nimcaan Abdiraham Hassan aka Hilaac to be head of Waberi National Band on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, SONNA reported.
Mr. Nimcaan is a young musician with more interest in the Music industry and attracted the attention and hearts of the Somali people; he was born, grew and studied in Borama, the capital of Awdal region northwest Somalia.
The Musician joined the music field from his hometown, Borama in 2012. He took several songs about life, love, patriotism and social issues so far. He replaced his predecessor, Mohamed Hassan Barow who would be the advisor for the Ministry according to the paper of appointment.
Waberi Band was among key national bands in Somalia and it was established in 1970s to promote awareness, entertain the society and it is remembered for its vivid role in producing talented musicians, songs, drama and dancing folklores performances all over the regions in the country.
Nimcaan Hilaac appointment to this group at moment comes as the current Government renovated the National Theater under Self-Help Project known as ‘IS-hilqaan’, and it is due to be reopened soon.
