The President of Kenya, William Ruto, has officially received the credentials of the new Somali ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Jabriil Ibrahim Abdulle, in a ceremony held at the State House in Nairobi on Monday.
Mr. Abdulle, who was appointed by the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is expected to play a key role in enhancing the bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries, which have recently overcome some political and security challenges.
Mr. Abdulle is a well-known figure in Kenya, where he has lived and worked for many years. He has been involved in various humanitarian and development projects, as well as peace and reconciliation efforts in Somalia.
The Somali community in Kenya, which is estimated to be over two million people, has welcomed the appointment of Mr. Abdulle as a sign of goodwill and mutual respect between the two governments.
Somalia and Kenya share a long history of cooperation and trade, as well as common interests in regional stability and security.
