The Deputy Force Commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia, (AMISOM), Maj. Gen Gerbi Regassa Kebede today met Kenyan troops serving under AMISOM led by the contingent Commander Brig Paul Njema. This is part of a familiarisation tour since he recently assumed duties in Mogadishu.
Maj Gen Kebede from the Ethiopia National Defence Forces recently assumed office as the Deputy Force Commander in charge of Support and Logistics. He took over from Maj. Gen. George Owinow from the Kenya Defence Forces who had completed his tour of duty.
While meeting the soldiers separately at the Sector II Headquarters Dhobley and in Sector VI Kismayu, General Kabede thanked the Kenyan forces for a job well done in pursuit of peace and stability in Somalia.
“I want to assure all of you of our continued support from the Force Headquarters towards the achievement of tour mandate,” he told the soldiers.
