Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Governor of Banadir and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amir, held a meeting at the Mogadishu City Hall with officials from UNOPS, Hydra Nova, and the World Bank representatives overseeing the Nagaad Project, which focuses on improving the city’s infrastructure.
During the meeting, UNOPS, Hydra Nova, and the Director of Public Works presented a comprehensive report on surveys and studies conducted to develop sustainable solutions for Mogadishu’s drainage systems. They outlined the finalisation of a Master Plan for Trunk Drainages, set to be completed within 60 days, as well as plans for the construction of new asphalt roads, with contracts expected to be signed by mid-February.
Mayor Amir emphasised the urgency of accelerating drainage system construction to mitigate the recurring flooding issues during rainy seasons. He instructed relevant authorities and agencies to begin implementation as soon as possible to ensure a long-term solution for the city’s infrastructure challenges.
