Mogadishu, SONNA – The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh presided over the opening of the National Identification and Registration Authority’s consultation workshop today. The event, held in the capital city, marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to establish a comprehensive National ID system in Somalia.
The workshop brought together key figures from the Federal Member States and the Benadir Regional Administration. These representatives are set to play a crucial role in the consultation process, providing insights and feedback on the proposed ID plans. The initiative aims to create a unified and secure identification system that will serve as the foundation for governance, security, and social services.
Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of the National ID system in enhancing governmental functions and improving the lives of Somali citizens.”The National Identification and Registration plans are crucial because they give an identity to our citizens, and that identity enables the government to serve them better,” he stated.
The consultation workshop is expected to address various aspects of the ID system. The outcomes of this workshop are eagerly anticipated, as they will shape the future of identity management in Somalia.
