Mogadishu, SONNA — Minister of Information Daud Aweis concluded a pivotal two-day forum on Thursday, addressing the critical issues of misinformation and incitement to violence and their impacts on peace and stability. The event brought together experts, policymakers, and community leaders to discuss and devise strategies to combat these challenges.

Throughout the forum, participants shared valuable insights and experiences, highlighting the pervasive threat misinformation poses to societal harmony. Discussions emphasized the need for robust measures to counteract false information and prevent its escalation into violence.

Minister Aweis underscored the importance of the forum, stating, “Together, we can overcome this dangerous menace that threatens to tear us apart. Together, we can build a society founded on trust, respect, and understanding. Let us stand united against fake news and misinformation, for the sake of our country and the well-being of our people.”

The conclusions drawn from the forum will inform a comprehensive approach to address the issues of misinformation and violence, ensuring a collaborative effort to protect and promote national unity.

The Ministry of Information’s initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the country’s resilience against the dangers of misinformation, reaffirming its dedication to maintaining a peaceful and stable society.
