Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale), inaugurated the presentation of the first phase of the Mogadishu Drainage Design study.

The event showcased the Mogadishu Drainage Master Plan, a comprehensive blueprint detailing the city’s drainage system and the strategic activities required for its development and implementation. This master plan aims to provide a sustainable solution to the city’s water drainage issues, which have long been a priority for national leaders.

During his address, Mayor Jimale emphasized the critical importance of developing a robust and efficient drainage system for Mogadishu. He highlighted that the successful implementation of this plan is essential for the city’s infrastructure and the well-being of its residents.

“The development of a sustainable water drainage system is not just a necessity but a priority for our city’s future. This master plan will guide us in creating a resilient infrastructure capable of managing our water resources effectively,” said Mayor Jimale.

The presentation marked a pivotal moment in Mogadishu’s urban development, reflecting the city’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its inhabitants. The detailed study and subsequent phases of the project are expected to bring significant improvements to the city’s drainage capabilities, mitigating the risks of flooding and other water-related issues.

As Mogadishu continues to grow and develop, the implementation of the Mogadishu Drainage Master Plan will play a crucial role in ensuring the city’s sustainability and resilience against environmental challenges.
