Joint forces kill 4 Al-Shabaab militants in an airstrike operation

Mogadishu(SONNA)-On the early afternoon of March 7, 2020, the Federal Government of Somalia, in partnership with the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), conducted an airstrike against Al-Shabaab militants in the vicinity of Gandarshe, Somalia.
This precision airstrike 4 Al-Shabaab, terrorists.
The FGS and the US AFRICOM take significant measures to prevent civilians’ casualties in the fight against the Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist puppet Al-Shabaab and investigate each reported allegation thoroughly.  At this time, no civilians are assessed to have been killed or injured in the attack.
This strike is in support of the FGS efforts to rid Somalia of the atrocities of al-Shabaab and provide a better future for the Somali people.
Somali National Army’s Danab and its United States partners are committed to fighting Al-Shabaab terrorists to prevent the deaths of innocent civilians that include men, women, and children in Somalia and its neighboring countries.
The efforts we take to protect and safeguard civilians dramatically contrast to the indiscriminate attacks that the cowards al-Shabaab regularly conducts against the civilian populace of Somalia.
This strike comes the day after SNA forces stationed at Ceel Salini defeated an Al-Shabaab attack on their military base. Around 30 Al-Shabaab militants attempted to overrun the base but were easily defeated by the SNA Soldiers stationed there. No SNA soldiers were wounded or killed in the battle.
This successful defense highlights the increasing ability of the SNA in their fight against the terrorist group.
