Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia has officially launched a four-day Conference on Election Awareness and Voter Education for Local Governments.
Bringing together leaders from the federal, state, and regional levels, the conference aims to strengthen electoral participation and promote informed voter engagement across the country.
In his official opening remarks, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh emphasized the importance of educating citizens on their voting rights, responsibilities, and the electoral process to ensure fair and transparent elections.
“The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Federal Member States, is committed to implementing free and fair elections, decentralizing power, and improving public service delivery in accordance with the country’s laws,” Minister Ali Hosh said.
The Deptuy Minister of Interior Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E. Abdihakim Ashkir highlighted the importance of empowering local communities through comprehensive voter education. Adding that informed voters are the foundation of a fair and transparent election process.
The Director General of the Ministry of Interior Federal Affairs and Reconciliation Aidarus M. Hassan took participants through Somalia’s electoral process.
As the event continued, engaging discussions and insightful debates highlighting the importance of informed voting and the role of local government elections in shaping our communities were heard.
