Mogadishu(SONNA)-Acting Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Abdi Hayir( Maareye) on Tuesday inaugurated the public media service implementation process in accordance with the media law recently signed by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia H.E Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo, SONNA reported.
The minister assured that the state-media has now been transformed into a public service system, and the meeting was attended by civil society organizations, media organizations and some political party leaders.
“State media have to work as a public Media, and should serve the people of the country accordingly by sharing efficient information within the community”, said the minister.
Members of media organizations, civil society and political parties welcomed the move.
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, has already signed the media law, which has been passed by both Houses of Parliament of Somalia.
