French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue with Russia during a New Year’s reception at the Elysee Palace.
“I will continue to speak to Russia,” said Macron, who has been one of the few Western leaders to hold direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the Ukraine war began.
He also emphasized the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity in relations to China’s influence in Russia, saying, “But if we turn a blind eye to imperialist wars, who will defend a free and stable international order?”
