Addis Ababa (SONNA): Ethiopia and Djibouti have signed an agreement to revamp the 80 kilometers Dikhil Daguru road, a part of Galafi highway.
Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Yonas Ayalew and Djibouti Ports Corridor Roads Director General, Abdi Ebrahim Farah have signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries.
Ethopian Minister of Transport, Damawit Moges and Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority Director, Abubeker Oumer Haji have witnessed the signing ceremony on Thursday.
The Dikhil–Daguru has been damaged to the extent that has been hindering the transportation system across the cross the Ethio-Djibouti corridor.
On the occasion, it is stated that an 80 kilometers detour will be constructed soon while the main construction phase of the road is to be started within the coming two months.
Renovating work is said crucial to address issues related to time-consuming transportation problems that emanated damaged on the Galafi cross border highway.
