Cairo, Egypt – The Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, along with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, and the Secretary General of the Arab University League, Ahmed Abu Geyd, convened a farewell meeting for Ambassador Ilyas Sheikh Omar, the outgoing Somali Ambassador to Egypt and the Permanent Representative to the Arab University League.

Ambassador Omar, who has now completed his diplomatic tenure in Egypt, was lauded for his exemplary diplomatic service and his pivotal role in fostering the robust cooperation between Somalia and Egypt. Both Prime Minister Madbouli and Minister Shoukry highlighted the warm reception and collaborative spirit the Egyptian government and its people extended to Ambassador Omar throughout his service.

The Secretary General of the Arab University Organization, Ahmed Abu Geyd, also commended Ambassador Omar for his efforts in strengthening the ties and collaborative projects between the Arab University Organization and Somalia, marking a period of increased academic and cultural exchange.

Expressing his gratitude, Ambassador Ilyas Sheikh Omar thanked the Egyptian leadership for their support and acknowledged the fruitful cooperation and hospitality he received from the Egyptian government and its citizens, which greatly facilitated his diplomatic mission.
