Beledweyne(SONNA):The Government of Djibouti has on Monday delivered 90 tons of food aid for the displaced people by the floods through Hirshabelle State Administration in  Beledwayne town, SONNA Reported.

The Food Aid package contains flour, rice, sugar and other essential items for human living and it was delivered to Hirshabele administration.

The Beledweyne town was the worst hit area, after the Shabelle river burst its banks, affecting 240,000 people, including 11,400 IDPs. The river levels at Beledweyne have remained at bank-full since 12 May

Mohamed Barqad, Head of Djibouti Government Delegation stated that the food aid to the flood victims was based on a request made by the Djibouti military forces in Beledwyne after seeing the living condition of the  people affected by the floods.

On his side, Hirshabelle state President Mohamed Abdi Ware thanked the people and the government of Djibouti for always being alongside their brothers and sisters in Beledwayne town at difficult times.

Djibouti is the first country to provide Food aid to the affected-people of Shabelle river floods last year.
