Mogadishu(SONNA)-Group of Somali Diaspora Professionals on Monday realized their dream of implementing mega health project, opening well equipped, modern and major hospital in the capital Mogadishu Hodan district while intending to reduce number of patients seeking healthcare in abroad.
Somali President, Hassan Sh. Mohamud, who himself inaugurated the hospital, described as one of Mega Investment projects to be carried out in the country, mentioning that there were two five star hotels being built in the capital, urging the entrepreneurs, in particular, the Somali Diaspora Community to return back home and invest their country.
“We have invested Hodan Hospital with 12 Million dollars and it has the capacity to conduct every surgical operation made across the world with 400 staff including doctors and medical practitioners. The hospital has 200 beds and four operating theatres at the same time, the patients can access it through three big roads as gateways. It has land area of 10’000 meters”, Hospital Manager, Dr. Mohamed Isak said.
Chairperson of Premier Bank, Jibril Hassan Mohamed praised the on-going development projects in Somalia especially Private-Sector driven economy, saying it is a unique and totally different than other countries in the African continent, except few countries like Kenya, South Africa, Egypt and Morocco with high economy.
Minister of Health of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Adam commended professionals for implementing such modern hospital and thanked Premier Bank for funding it, adding his ministry is working on regulations regarding to such institutions in the country.
Undocumented number of patients from different regions in Somalia usually travel to abroad from neighbouring countries to far South Asian country, India for health issues, despite Somalia’s efforts to build both private and public health institutions to handle serious health cases like cancer and kidney transplant.
