Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdisalan Abdi Ali attended the launch of the Climate Change Education Initiative held in Mogadishu.
Mr. Abdikali emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing education, particularly regarding the impacts of climate change. He announced plans for the upcoming years to address challenges posed by climate change and implement solutions to mitigate potential hazards.
“When the DanQaran Government was established, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change was created. Today, we recognize that the Ministry of Education has introduced climate change education at various student levels. We acknowledge the urgent need to strengthen our response to climate change issues in our country. I assure you that the government is preparing the necessary regulations to guide the education of students on climate change impacts,” stated the Second Deputy Prime Minister.
This initiative underscores the importance of integrating climate awareness into the educational framework in Somalia as the country seeks to combat the challenges posed by environmental changes.
