Somalia has been struggling with the extremist group al-Shabaab for the past 15 years. However, the situation is changing as the authorities have launched operations to defeat the dangerous organization. The recent actions have resulted in al-Shabaab being forced to abandon many of the areas they once controlled within the country.

The motivations behind the violence carried out by al-Shabaab are rooted in their aim to impose their ideology on the Somali people and its leaders, who value their traditions and religion. The group has targeted individuals regardless of their religious or secular knowledge.

One Somali scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Mahamed Kulmiye, explains how al-Shabaab is deceiving and tormenting the society and its leaders. According to him, the group targets a particular tribe, and the most ignorant, illiterate, or young people are made the head of the tribe. The scholars and leaders of those people are either killed or put in prison. The sheikh states that there is no Somali family that has not been affected by the oppression of the group.

The revelation that al-Shabaab is being used as a tool by another power is intended to awaken the society that has fallen victim to their treachery for many years. The military and local forces have recently taken over many towns and districts that were under the control of the group for more than 10 years. As a result, many senior leaders have been killed, and the public uprising of the Somali people has increased as they participate in the operation to eradicate al-Shabaab groups

However, recent intensified operations by the authorities and the participation of the Somali people have led to the group being forced to abandon many of the areas they once controlled. The motivations behind the violence carried out by al-Shabaab are rooted in their aim to impose their ideology on the Somali people and its leaders. The group has targeted individuals regardless of their religious or secular knowledge. The revelation that al-Shabaab is being used as a tool by another power is intended to awaken the society and bring about peace and unity. The recent efforts by the military and local forces, along with the public uprising, show promising signs for a brighter future for the Somali people
