Mogadishu (SONNA):- The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama, attended an event last night to showcase the achievements of the Banadir regional administration. The event was held at the local government headquarters in Banadir.
Mr. Jama commended the Banadir regional government for its role in rebuilding the traffic infrastructure and delivering social services. He also urged the regional government to speed up the development plans for the capital.
“This year is marked by a year of action, and we have achieved great achievements that are important for our country,” Mr. Jama said.
The Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale), who also spoke at the event, said that his administration’s plans for 2024 include tackling the sewage problem and holding local council elections, so that the people can elect their representatives.
The event highlighted the major achievements of the Banadir regional government in 2023, such as the development of infrastructure, especially the construction of 15 paved roads, the improvement of the security situation in the capital, the enhancement of education, health, and charity sectors, and the expansion of community services.
The event was attended by ministers, MPs, army officers, district and local government officials, traditional elders, scholars, women, directors, and various segments of the society.
