Speaker of the Parliament Hosts Farewell Event for Outgoing Turkish Ambassador in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (SONNA) - The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur (Jamac), hosted a farewell reception in Mogadishu for the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, who has concluded his diplomatic tenure and will soon return to his home country.
The farewell event was attended by cabinet ministers, lawmakers from both houses of the Federal Parliament, diplomats, officials, alumni who studied in Türkiye, and other distinguished guests. Officials speaking at the event expressed profound appreciation to the Turkish government for its steadfast support, assistance, and fraternal relations with the government and people of Somalia.
Ambassador Alper Aktaş expressed deep honor in serving in Somalia, noting his immense satisfaction with his time in the country. He highlighted that relations between Somalia and Türkiye have reached an exceptional level, with both nations collaborating across multiple sectors, including security, economy, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
The Ambassador also announced that key technological development projects are underway in Somalia, noting plans to establish a satellite launching facility and launch the country's first satellite by 2027. He added that naval vessels supporting coastal operations will soon arrive off the coast of Somalia.
Concluding the event, House Speaker Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur delivered a detailed address reflecting on the long history of fraternal relations between Somalia and Türkiye, its various evolutionary phases, and the elevated status of bilateral ties today.
Speaker Abdulkadir emphasized that the Turkish government has provided unforgettable debt and support to Somalia, particularly during critical times when the nation needed assistance, stating that the Somali people will never forget the solidarity and brotherhood shown by Türkiye's government and citizens.
Finally, the Speaker of the House of the People thanked Ambassador Alper Aktaş for his hard work and dedication toward strengthening bilateral ties during his tenure in Somalia, wishing him success and a bright future.
