South West State Leader Launches Grade 8 National Examinations

Baidoa, (SONNA) – The Leader of South West State, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, today officially launched the Grade 8 certificate examinations administered by the South West State Ministry of Education, which are being held across various districts of the state.
A total of 19,788 students are sitting for this year’s examinations, including 11,411 boys and 8,377 girls. The figure represents an increase of 4,519 candidates compared to last year’s total of 15,269 students, reflecting growing access to education across South West State.
The launch ceremony was attended by South West State officials, representatives of the Ministry of Education, teachers, and other distinguished guests. Participants commended ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education and expand educational services throughout South West State.
Addressing the students sitting for the examinations, Sheikh Adan encouraged them to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies and wished them success and outstanding results.
He also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education, school administrations, teachers, and parents for their contributions to the preparation and implementation of the examinations. He emphasized that education remains the cornerstone of social development and the foundation for building a brighter future for the younger generation.
The South West State administration reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening education and enhancing the quality of learning services to produce a knowledgeable generation capable of contributing to the country’s development and reconstruction.
The launch event was also attended by officials from the Federal Government of Somalia, members of South West State’s institutions, including the Minister of Education, and other invited guests.
