Somalia, IsDB Sign 2026–2028 Country Engagement Framework

Baku, (SONNA) — The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Bihi Iman Egeh, and the President of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, on Friday signed the 2026–2028 Country Engagement Framework (CEF), a strategic partnership roadmap that will guide development financing cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Islamic Development Bank Group over the next three years.
The framework reflects IsDB’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s development priorities in line with the country’s National Development Plan and broader economic growth objectives. It focuses on two key pillars: strengthening resilient economic infrastructure, particularly in the energy and agriculture sectors, and advancing human capital development through investments in healthcare, skills training, workforce development, and education, with a special emphasis on women and youth.
Minister Bihi said the agreement further strengthens the longstanding partnership between Somalia and the IsDB Group and will create new opportunities to finance transformative development projects aimed at improving the lives of the Somali people.
