Somali Defence Chief Visits Frontline Troops as Military Offensive Intensifies

CEELDHEER, Somalia(SONNA)-Somalia's Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, and the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, visited frontline troops in Ceeldheer district, Galgaduud region, on Saturday to assess ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab and boost soldiers' morale.
Travelling by road to the frontline, the delegation met units of the Somali National Army engaged in operations against the militant group and received updates on the security situation and battlefield progress.
Minister Fiqi praised the troops for their courage and dedication, urging them to intensify operations, remain vigilant, and strengthen cooperation with local communities to eliminate militant threats and restore lasting security.
Army Commander Maj. Gen. Ibrahim commended the soldiers for their resilience and recent battlefield gains, encouraging them to sustain the momentum of the offensive and maintain unity as military operations continue.
The visit is part of the government's efforts to support frontline forces and accelerate the nationwide campaign to recapture areas still under Al-Shabaab control.
The delegation also included the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces Support Command, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Mahmoud Hussein (Garabey), and other senior military officers.
