Minister of Information Meets NUSOJ Secretary General

Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdifatah Qasim Mahmoud, today received the Secretary General of the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ), Mr. Omar Faruk Osman, at his office in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on strengthening press freedom, improving journalists’ access to information, and advancing the overall development of Somalia’s media sector to support a professional, responsible, and public-oriented press.

The two sides also discussed the importance of fostering an enabling environment for journalists and enhancing cooperation on initiatives aimed at promoting media professionalism and public service journalism.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of sustained collaboration to support media development, enhance journalists’ professional skills, safeguard press safety, and strengthen the media’s role in public awareness and national development.
