Parliamentary Finance Committees Review 2025 Budget Audit with Auditor General

MOGADISHU (SONNA) – Members of the Finance Committees of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia today met with officials from the Office of the Auditor General to review the 2025 budget accountability process and government financial audits.

The meeting was led by the Deputy Chairpersons of the Finance Committees of the two Houses, Senator Ibrahim Awgaab Osman and MP Mohamed Haruun, and attended by a delegation headed by the Auditor General, Mr. Ahmed Isse Gutale.

Discussions focused on the 2025 budget accounts and audit procedures conducted across government institutions, particularly the verification of public expenditure, the use of government assets and measures to ensure financial accountability.

The parliamentary committees received a detailed briefing on completed audit activities, existing challenges and efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability across government institutions.

Officials from the Office of the Auditor General also responded to questions from committee members concerning audit procedures and related financial oversight matters.
