Minister of Defense Receives Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister in His Office

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, today received the Assistant Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt for African Affairs, H.E. Mohamed Karim Fouad, at his office.
The meeting focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship and cooperation between Somalia and Egypt, particularly in the areas of defence and security.
The Minister of Defence expressed his appreciation to the Government of Egypt for its continued support and steadfast position regarding the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. He also underscored the importance of further enhancing the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
For his part, the Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister commended the achievements of the Federal Government of Somalia in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continuing cooperation in the fields of security and defence.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Yusuf Ali Mohamed; Lieutenant General Mohamed Ali Bariise, Commander of the Joint Operations Coordination Centre; the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Salah; the Defence Attaché at the Egyptian Embassy in Somalia, Colonel Ahmed Fathi Abdel Sattar; and other officials from both sides.
