Information Minister Attends Prayer Gathering Honouring Late Somali Artist Ahmed Ali Igal

Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdifatah Qasim Mahmud, on Tuesday attended a prayer gathering held at the National Theatre in Mogadishu in memory of the late renowned Somali artist Ahmed Ali Igal.

The event brought together artists, poets, cultural figures, and government officials to pay tribute to the late artist’s enduring contributions to Somali arts, literature, and cultural heritage.

Speaking at the gathering, former National Theatre Director and poet Abdi Dhuux Yusuf reflected on Ahmed Ali Igal’s distinguished artistic career and highlighted the pivotal role he played in advancing Somali music, literature, and the performing arts.

In his remarks, Minister Abdifatah Qasim Mahmud prayed for Allah to grant the late Ahmed Ali Igal Jannatul Firdaws and extended his condolences to the artist’s family, relatives, the Somali arts community, and the nation as a whole.

The Minister described the late Ahmed Ali Igal as one of Somalia’s cultural icons whose legacy left a lasting mark on the country’s artistic and literary landscape, noting his significant role in preserving and promoting Somalia’s rich cultural heritage.
