Mogadishu (SONNA)-The caretaker minister of finance of the federal government of Somalia Dr. Abdirahman Duale Beyle met with finance ministers from the federal member states and Banadir region director of finance, SONNA reported.
The meeting was held in Mogadishu to consult on number of issues that require a joint input, the officials discussed the financial reforms that has been achieved and the required steps that will stimulate economic growth. The key agenda was how the federal government and its member states can collaborate and Fast Track economic development and promote activities that will trigger economic growth.
The officials also discussed the debt relief program that reached great heights in the past few years and how the country can reach its goal of total debt relief. Somalia has previously reached a milestone in the debt relief program that is the decision point and it is looking to achieve completion point which will mean a reduced total debt. At completion point the debt will be reduced from USD 5.2 billion to USD 557million.
The finance minister was accompanied by his deputy and his state minister, also in attendance was the Mogadishu deputy mayor in charge of administration and finance Mr. Ahmed Hassan
