Kuwait, (SONNA) – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, led a delegation to the 6th Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in Kuwait. Ahead of the official opening, he held preliminary discussions with key officials and delegations from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Mauritania, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
The pre-conference meeting focused on strengthening early warning systems for mass hazards and investing in resilient infrastructure. During the discussions, the SoDMA chairman highlighted Somalia’s efforts under the Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL) initiative and provided an update on the country’s ongoing humanitarian situation.
Organized by UNDRR in collaboration with the League of Arab States, the forum, which takes place biennially, officially kicks off tomorrow in Kuwait City. It will conclude on February 12 with the adoption of an actionable resolution aimed at enhancing disaster risk reduction and strengthening community resilience across the region.
